The 2024 Online Scotch Whisky Awards are in full swing. The list of nominations is out, and voting is open. I am a big fan of the OSWAs. As an independent, community-driven award with high transparency, they are a breath of fresh air in an industry mired by questionable prizes and medals. They have also been a source of inspiration for my whisky collection. So, I decided to celebrate the OSWAs in my own way. That means gamifying things a bit, organising a small competition between the 2021, 2022 and 2023 OSWAs nominees in my favourite category, the Best Value Whisky, face-off against each other.
I am looking forward to seeing how some of these whiskies fare against each other, in a 100% blind competition. Yes, I am doing this fully blind and will only find out who I picked as the winner at the end. How will the three-time winner Arran 10-year-old fare? Will it triumph again? Will there be any shocking eliminations or winners? In the end, what I am about to share is all just my personal preference. And we all know that taste is personal.
